Submitting a grievance (or, worse, having a grievance submitted against you) can be a stressful time for all involved.

Many companies enter into the procedure with their own interests at heart, rather than looking out for the wellbeing of their staff. That's why Employment Rights UK was founded, with our extensive experience in Trade Union representation and background in law allowing us to provide employment grievance advice, in Stevenage and across the UK. Raising A Grievance

A grievance is a complaint or allegation that you wish to level against a colleague or other staff member. When you raise a grievance, you will be invited in for a meeting and will get your chance to go into more detail about what has been happening, as well as to show any evidence of the allegations. Once you have done so, there are a few options regarding what could happen. One is mediation – a third party is involved to discuss the issue further, in an attempt to work out a solution. Another option is a separation of shift patterns, to keep the two aggrieved parties apart. The best-case scenario would be an apology, sometimes submitted in writing, after which the two parties draw a line under the issue and move on together.

Receiving a Grievance

If a grievance has been raised against you, you will be invited into a meeting, wherein you will be given the chance to give your side of what has happened. In the meeting, you'll be asked a series of questions and you'll have the chance to provide evidence for your side. This can be a stressful time, so our Stevenage-based employment grievance advice is available to you from beginning to end, wherever you are in the UK. The worst-case outcome, if no agreement can be struck between the two parties, would be a disciplinary hearing.

Visit our Disciplinary page to find out more about what this entails and how we can be here for you.
