The government has put more financial pressure on businesses with the increase of employer taxes National Insurance contributions. This being increased so close to the National minimum wage also being increased has hit some companies hard. Companies will be looking to cut expenses and staffing is the biggest expense. Some employers will look to cut jobs whilst trying to avoid redundancies because a redundancy package can be expensive depending on length of service.

From my experience, businesses may and do look for any reason to dismiss employees, this can be overwhelming and emotional, our job is to look out for your best interests, to make sure your rights are protected by preparing the best arguments against any formal action. This is not always achievable, however we will also with no extra charge help you prepare to argue your case in a tribunal.

I set this website up after being a Trade Union Representative for almost 12 years dealing with hundreds of gross misconduct cases I prepare all potential angles a company could go to make sure to not be caught off guard with something. Nine times out of ten, I have a case brought to me and it makes me question the evidence, sometimes it can be the allegations are so far fetched that there are so many arguments to use against it. from my experience a person facing a disciplinary or grievance sees only the possible outcome rather than the individual allegation.

I once represented someone facing nine separate allegations of gross misconduct and didn't think he would keep his job, I went through each allegation and by the end of the meeting with HR they had decided that none of them could be upheld. That can be the difference between going it alone in a meeting with no preparation, to having someone like me and my advisors picking apart the case. Sometimes you just need that person on your side, which is what we will be there for.

Remember that just because you are not part of a Trade Union, it doesn't mean you have to face employment issues by yourself.
